ALOA has written to EPA Victoria on the disposal of Asbestos Abated soils (with no other contaminant).
The practice has been that for soils with large chunks of asbestos removed only leaving nominally 7mm particles that the material is considered abated and can be disposed as clean fill.
ALOA is seeking a very clear process so that members are not subjected to prosecution nor be liable for landfill levies if the material is not considered properly abated.
